The official story behind the name and the song
(It's Only Roy)

OK, I was helping a future bass player and fellow songwriter of my group, Jiva, (which was later signed to George Harrison's label, Dark Horse Records, but that is a tale for another time) move into our turn-of-the-century Tudor-style house in Echo Park, CA.

I was asked to remove all the pictures off the wall when I happened upon an extremely small (and I mean SMALL!) frame which my friend had written in perfect calligraphy and I quote, "Jim stuck me up here because he thinks I'm art. But I'm not Art, I'm Roy!"

Ever since then it has been an inside joke with our circle of friends that sometimes "Art is on vacation" and sometimes, "It's Only Roy".
